What Is Dry Eye Syndrome And Why Is It Harmful? 

The major cause of dry eye is meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). These glands secrete oil which gets coated on the surface of our eyes. It also helps in drying out the water components of our tears. So, what MGD does is, that it acts as a blockage so that the meibomian glands do not get a chance to secrete enough oil into the tears or if they do the oil is of very poor quality.
